At Tyler Appeals, P.A., appellate advocacy is the heart of the practice. Founded by attorney Tyler Rauh, the firm exists to serve trial lawyers, litigants, and businesses who need strategic appellate representation in Florida’s state and federal courts. Tyler offers a distinctive edge to the courtroom and briefing: before becoming a lawyer, he was a professional poker player. Studying poker gave Tyler a strategic game theory background that prepared him for the high-stakes and complex decision-making process that is frequently present in trial and appeals courts. Outside the courtroom and poker table, Tyler is a devoted father to two young children.

Tyler is known for partnering closely with trial counsel from the earliest stages of litigation through an appeal. He can help identify issues at the pleading stage, ensuring that his clients have an optimal path in discovery. Or Tyler can assist at trial, where embedded support at the counsel table helps preserve issues for an appeal. And, after the verdict, Tyler handles appeals to ensure his clients have the opportunity to get the fair result. Whether retained for discrete pre- or post-trial briefing or embedded during trial proceedings, Tyler adds value by spotting long-game risks and identifying opportunities for stronger, more sustainable arguments.

Tyler’s academic foundation reflects his commitment to excellence. He earned his law degree with honors from the University of Miami School of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Business Law Review and authored a published article analyzing First Amendment implications of government warning labels on sugary beverages in the University of Miami Business Law Review. But it was through Miami Law’s Federal Appellate Clinic that Tyler found his passion for appellate litigation. There, he drafted briefs and petitions to the U.S. Supreme Court, multiple U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the Florida Supreme Court.

Since entering private practice, Tyler has focused his career on litigation and appeals. His practice spans a wide range of complex civil matters, including the following:

  • Maritime and admiralty law
  • Intellectual property
  • Breach of contract
  • Catastrophic personal injury claims

One of Tyler’s representative cases was heard by the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. You can listen to the recording of the oral arguments in the case J.F. vs. Carnival Corp here.

Clients and trial attorneys alike turn to Tyler for his reliability and appellate strategy. Ultimately, the goal is to integrate with litigation teams to provide behind-the-scenes support or direct representation. Regardless of the underlying facts of the appeal, Tyler is skilled at crystallizing complex legal issues into key points that resonate with judges.
